Overview

Hankyu refers to the private Osaka train line whose main station, Umeda, is attached to the northeast section of Osaka Station. The "kouka-shita" literally means "beneath the railroad tracks." Indeed, these tracks are elevated, and beneath them you will find some of the richest opportunities for dining in Osaka. There are dozens of restaurants here in this sort of roofed district of the city, and certainly bustling crowds as well. Some restaurants even have "kouka-shita" in their addresses! Ask anyone; most can point the way.
