Tokyo's necropolis, the Aoyama Cemetery, occupies some of the most expensive real estate in Tokyo. Consisting of 65 acres (26.35 hectares) and 100,000 graves, this place has been the resting place of Japan's celebrities, powerful politicians, acclaimed scientists, and talented artists since 1874. The numerous cherry trees make you forget the area's real purpose, making it a favorite for long strolls and cherry blossom viewing in early April.
