Overview

Equestrian events are still held here as they were for the 1964 Olympics. There are many special events throughout the year. Once a month, free pony rides are offered for the youngsters. Once a year, on the day of the Autumnal Equinox, September 23rd, Baji Koen hosts "Equestrian Day," which showcases the importance of the horse in Japanese history. Of special interest on this day is the Japanese horse-mounted archery event called yabusame.
