Teppanyaki means food that is stir-fried and cooked on a large grill. Some restaurants that feature this kind of food allow the guests to cook it themselves; however, this is not the case at Bamboo Grassy. The chefs do the cooking here, which is probably just as well considering the high quality of ingredients and level of complexity of some of the dishes. Prices range from cheap (400JPY for four pieces of vegetables) to pricey (4200JPY for shiitake mushrooms sandwiched between fois gras and Wagyu beef). Four prized seats are available at the bar for an up-close demonstration of the cooking, but most of the other seats have a decent view as well. The appeal of Bamboo Grassy is that you can order almost anything for the chefs to cook, and it's guaranteed fresh. Top-grade beef fillets and sirloin, sausage, pork, and fowl are some of the options. Crab, shrimp, abalone, oysters, squid, sea urchin, octopus, scallops, and various fish round out the seafood options. And of course, there is a wide variety of vegetables to complement any dish. Reservations are recommended.
