Tanabe is somewhat understated but don't be put off by this; chef Kosuke Tanabe knows soba. He grinds the soba flour on the premises and the delightfully chewy, dense noodles are made by hand. Try the gomadare soba, noodles in a nutty sesame sauce and be sure to wash it all down with a measure of local sake. Seating is limited (the restaurant seats around thirty people) so you may have to queue.
