Overview
Formerly known as Choraku-ji, this Jodo-sect temple was established in 1225 by Yoritomo's wife, Masako, for her husband's after life. In keeping with Buddhist practice following her own death she was given the name Anyo. Noteworthy are both the stone Jizo visited by pregnant women for good luck and the Amida Nyorai statues. Also, an old tomb [1308] believed to be that of Tomotoki Hojo's son, the monk Songan Ryoben, deserves mention.
