Named after a prominent businessman of the 1800s, Jalan Tan Hiok Nee is one of the city's oldest streets. Approximately 300 meters long, the cobblestone road is lined with pre-war, colonial-style buildings. You'll find quaint shops, vendors hawking their wares and outdoor cafés. The area especially comes alive at night, when it's lit up by pretty lanterns zigzagging overhead. Night stalls of the popular JB Bazaar are located here as well. This street frequently plays host to local community performances, especially Chinese cultural events.
