Gonbei, Kuala Lumpur

Sitting pretty in the Starhill Gallery, this Japanese restaurant is high on looks and boasts of an equally interesting menu. The decor is quite pleasant with plush furnishings, exquisite lighting and Japanese artifacts strewn all around. The grill master sits right in the middle of the restaurant with his creations emitting an enchanting aroma. The rice is cooked just right and so is the seafood that is displayed seductively at the counter. You can take your pick from the salmon, calamari, lobster, shrimp and other fresh catches of the day. The food is cooked in traditional Japanese style, complete with the huge iron pots and pans on open fire. For true blue Japanese fare, Gonbei is a good option.
