Gopal Muttan picked up his culinary skills while cooking after working for a newspaper for two decades. Gopala Vegetarian Restaurant is the by-product of his learnings. Tasty, wholesome and pure vegetarian fare(without onion and garlic) is cooked and served everyday at the most humble prices. It's almost like charity under the garb of a restaurant. There are Indian, Chinese, Thai and Malay dishes with the famed tofu creations of Malaysia, which come closest to real meat. Claypot mutton, Chicken rendang and fish in ginger are the house specialties. The place is always packed and the service is brisk. Go there on an empty stomach and an equally empty pocket.
