Women's lib has reached Russia, and March 8 has been celebrated as International Women's Day since 1967. The national holiday was suggested by a somewhat forthcoming lady by the name of Clara Zetkin and the holiday has be celebrated ever since. The day is seen as a rallying point for coordinated efforts to demand women's rights and equal opportunity to participate in the political and economic process.
