Overview

The church was built as a memorial in honor of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Saint George is known in Russia as Saint George the Victor. He is also the patron-saint of Moscow. The golden-domed church was designed by architect A. Polianskii. The church is part of the extensive Victory Park that was laid down to commemorate WWII victory. The park also includes a Mosque, a synagogue, a memorial museum, and a collection of WWII weapons – ships, submarines, planes and others.
