Aida Chernovaia and Sergei Starukhin created the theatre in 1989. Its unique style is a mix of pantomime, classical and contemporary ballet, improvisation and straight drama. The theater's founders coined a term for their own brand of theatre called "plastic ballet." The plays are all original productions by the theatre staff itself. Each play has a non-standard choreography where the actors' movements are inspired by their emotional response to the music. The repertoire is oriented towards both adults and children.
