The concert hall was constructed between 1938-1940, and bears the socialist-realist marks of that era. The hall was originally intended as an avant-garde theatre, but after the death by torture of the director-to-be during the Red Terror, the arena was transformed into a concert hall. Today, it is primarily the home to the Moscow State Philharmonic. The concert hall, also presents types of performances including dance. Here you can see the Igor Moiseyev Ballet, the 'Berezka' ensemble, and a variety of Moscow symphony orchestras. Call ahead for events schedule.
