Trapeznaya (The Refectory), Moscow

A mix of Russian and British, The Refectory looks like an old English pub whose walls have been covered in pictures of the Russian North and the Baltic. The food is traditional Russian with specialities like paprika, olive and walnut salad (Trapezny) and crab, laminaria, rice and mayonnaise salad (Morskoy breeze) as well as hot salads, seafood and snacks. Drinkwise, there's a wide range of spirits (including the ubiquitous vodka) and beers. There's also a karaoke machine for the motley clientele of students and local office workers to try their vocal talents on once they've tanked themselves up on food and booze.
