Overview
The 'Prok-theatre' was created by Vladimir Epifantsev who graduated with an acting degree from Moscow's Schukin Theatre School and with a directing degree from GITIS, the Russian theatrical arts academy. The theatre was founded in 1994. One of Moscow's less mainstream theatrical offerings, the theatre looks for innovative ways of presenting a play. Of most interest is Epifantsev's production of Shakspeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' which he presented at the 'Unofficial Moscow' festival. In his production, Epifantsev puts in opposition not only the families but also Romeo and Juliet themselves.
