Georgian cuisine is renowned among Russian tourists - the food is hotter and spicier than typical Russian food and good Georgian wine is excellent. St Petersburg has its fair share of Georgian restaurants and this café provides a cheap alternative. Lying five minutes north of Nevskii along the Fontanka, you can sample all the tastiest Georgian favorites here in simple surroundings. A small place slightly off the tourist track, Lagidze is mostly frequented by Russians or native Georgians, occasionally in large groups. The menu contains the usual Georgian fare including khachapuri (fluffy bread with melted cheese)or lavash bread and shashlik (skewered pork).
