Overview
Located within the grounds of Haw Par Villa, the Hua Song Museum tells the story of the early Chinese migrants who left their homeland in search of fortune overseas. The museum takes visitors on the same journey as these migrants, from rural villages in China to crowded conditions aboard ships to the Chinatown communities they established around the world. The museum has an interesting collection of stories, artifacts from clan houses, and an interactive replica of a traditional Chinese kitchen. The museum’s displays have a clear nationalistic spin, but considering the museum’s name means “in praise of the Chinese” this isn’t too surprising. Guided tours are available. -Tanya Procyshyn
