Overview
The St Joseph's Church was founded by Francisco de Silva Male in the early 1800s. After the first church was pulled down in 1906, plans were made to build a new one on the existing site. This led to the completion of the St Joseph's Church in 1912. Capped by a dome, the central octagonal tower is flanked by two smaller towers. Every Good Friday, the church and courtyard are filled with so many worshipers that some have to settle for the balconies of nearby apartment blocks. If you are present on this day, you may even catch a religious procession commemorating Christ's crucifixion.
