For great views of the Chao Phraya River at night, try the fifth floor of River City, where part of the roof space has been converted into trendy bar. There is a covered bar area and pool table up top, and on the lower level comfortable sofas and chairs. A large cocktail menu, beers, whiskey, plus snacks and some Thai foods are on offer. A more lax dress code, reasonable pricing and cheerful music make this a good alternative to the nearby five-star hotels for a riverside evening venue. -AH
