The Chiang Mai Puppet Playhouse offers the opportunity to learn something of the rich history of North Thailand, once known as the Kingdom of Lanna. The puppets are beautifully made and spring to life during a series of sketches that recount Buddhist folk tales. The performance is accompanied by live local musicians, and the Northern Thai dialogue is explained by a narrative in English. The show only lasts for approximately an hour, but will provide memories to last a lifetime. The playhouse is located behind the Contemporary Art Museum.
