Mo'C Mo'L, Chiang Mai

The odd name is a shortened form of the rather whimsical Monkey Club and the Moon Lover but this self-styled 'resort restaurant' and bar is anything but whimsical - and is certainly a gorgeous vision out of the ordinary. A wooden path leads you across lily-pad strewn water to the dining and drinking areas, all exquisitely illuminated. Despite the open-air plan, Mo'C Mo'L manages to retain a level of intimacy, heightened by the beautiful views, and the subdued music. The cuisine served is a contemporary Asian mix, encompassing traditional Thai cuisine, alongside Japanese and Western alternatives. There is also a pleasingly extensive cocktail and wine list. Reservations are recommended.
