Overview
Situated three kilometers outside of Cholon and built in 1744, the Giac Lam Pagoda is one of the oldest in Ho Chi Minh City. Last restored in 1900, it has retained an old feel that is complemented by stunning blue and white porcelain decor on the outside walls. Inside you can find a rare example of Vietnamese written in Nam characters--the pre-Romantic system of writing Vietnamese. As in all pagodas, remember to remove your shoes before entering.
