Dover, located south of Hobart on the Huon Highway. The original settlement was known as Port Esperance after one of the ships in the 1792 French expedition led by Admiral Bruni D'Entrecasteaux but was later changed to Dover after the English port. The old cottages and tree-lined streets give the town a special atmosphere. The area around Dover is famous for wonderful scenery, sailing, fishing, bush walking, fossicking, camping and two splendid white sandy safe beaches.
