Overview
The original signal station was built in 1861 to provide warning that ships were coming into the harbor and to act as a semaphore communication point with Port Arthur. The present outlook house was built in 1910 and provides a wonderful vista across the city. At night there is a superb view from the top of the mountain of the city lights reflected on the waters of the harbor. A licensed restaurant and tearooms operate next to the lookout.
