Overview

The North Hobart Oval was originally a brick works in 1844, later it became a convict women housing area, an immigration depot. Then, in 1921 construction of the current football stadium began. In 1922, the Oval became the headquarters for the Tasmanian Football League and has hosted countless matches. Although it is mainly known for its Australian Rules Football, it has also been the site of soccer and cricket matches, and musical events. - Janice Barton
