Located in North Hobart’s “Restaurant Row”, this is the first solo venture for Chef Alex Jovanovic. Fresh Tasmanian ingredients form simple but sophisticated dishes, with Italian touches. Try the veal scallopine with olives, basil, mozzarella and tomato ragu, or possibly the pistachio crumbed calamari on a rocket, radicchio, basil and orange salad. Top off a delightful meal with the to-die-for Belgium Chocolate Mouse Cake or one of the specials, which, if you are lucky, could be the hot chocolate fondant with poached pear, cream and honey comb. The wine list is international, and reservations are definitely recommended for this extremely popular restaurant which is only a few minutes north of central Hobart. Piccolo Restaurant and Wine Bar is open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner.
