Folding glass doors, teak, brass, overstuffed conversation areas, and lots of class will greet the discerning guest at The Squires Bounty. This very upmarket pub is the result of James Squires' historical efforts to bring boutique brewing to Australia in the 1800s. Over two hundred years later, the latest concept bar was opened in Hobart's Salamanca Square. There is the usual pub grub on the menu, such as steak sandwiches, chips, and antipasto platters; however there are also temptations such as the pot of mussels cooked in James Squires Sundown Lager, salt and pepper, Szechwan calamari, or possibly the Black Angus Eye Fillet with mushrooms and olive tapenade. When the weather is warm, dine alfresco; in the cooler months, enjoy your drink and meal in front of one of the two gas log fires. The Squires Bounty opens daily at 11:00 in the morning. Closing times vary, they're always open late.
