Legend has it that 22 year old Grace Darling noticed a ship wreck in the waters at Northumberland one autumn morning in 1838. After her father rescued nine survivors from the wreck, Darling became a hero. In 1854 this rustic restaurant and pub was built by architect George Wharton. The old pub is a cross between a pub straight out of the 1800s and a restaurant. The wooden interiors coupled with interesting modern lamps make for a cosy and comfortable place. Do try the couscous and wild mushrooms or even the tender chicken parma or traditional steak served with vegetables. The venue also entertains private events so do contact them for details. With a history that dates back to a century ago, the Grace Darling Hotel is one of the most popular spots for dinner or drinks in the area. Do contact them for more details.
