When it comes to Asian cuisines, people of Melbourne are spoiled for choice with Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and even Japanese eateries. But Korean cuisine has not yet reached the same level of popularity. The Seoul's warm, cosy interior is often packed with visiting students, tourists and businessmen, traditionally the sign of authentic, hearty food. Popular items include bulgogi, a beef dish similar to Mongolian barbecues, sundubu (tofu) and rice noodle soups and dishes. Everything is accompanied by kimchi, a fiercely spicy pickled cabbage condiment that is a mainstay of Korean cooking. Wash it down with one of the equally fiery Korean spirits. Open on weekdays from 10a till late and on weekends from 11a till late.
