Thresherman's Bakehouse, Melbourne

Thresherman's Bakehouse at first looks more warehouse than cafe. Inside however, the charm of the bakehouse with its abundant displays of home baked food becomes evident. The historic building was literally gutted and the cafe designed to complement its shell-a unique and successful blend of the past with modern convenience. The food may look mouth-watering, but does not always live up to expectation. Thresherman's suffers somewhat from high turnover and self-service that does not seem fitting with the attention paid to its appearance. Nevertheless, a decent coffee and cake at Thresherman's Bakehouse makes for a welcome respite.
