Ampersand Cafe Bookstore, Sydney

If you've ever been to the original Ampersand on Paddington's Oxford Street, you can expect bigger, brighter and better things from this Surry Hills outlet. It's a trendy, modern two-story affair with most of the books found in the upstairs area, where you'll also find breakfasters getting a great view over Crown Street as they tuck into corn fritters or French toast. The downstairs looks more like a traditional cafe, but by night it becomes a dining destination and bar offering a full dinner menu, tasty tapas style bites and cocktails.
