Bacco, Sydney

There is no shortage of Italian restaurants on Sydney; but Bacco Bar, in the city's CBD, is something a little different. First, it's inside a shopping center, but don't let that put you off; there's certainly nothing low-rent about this place. During the daylight hours, Bacco is an authentic Italian pasticceria, serving up rosewater macarons, panini, and rich black espresso to suits and shoppers. But evenings are when the chefs get to shine, with a menu dotted with Italian classics. Start with a plate of buffalo mozzarella wrapped in pancetta and served atop toasted sourdough, then tuck into a main of fettuccine tossed in venison ragu.
