Though there is certainly no shortage of places to eat on Newtown’s King Street, you may be hard pressed to find something that’s open after dark, offering drinks and serving up Modern Australian cuisine. That is, until now. Bucking the trend of daytime eateries and Thai restaurants along this strip, Bloodwood is dishing up tapas-sized treats to the discerning diner or evening drinker. There is a strict no bookings policy, so be prepared to turn up early if you want the choicest of morsels; crispy dhal fritters with tamarind chutney, or the pick of lamb kibbeh with silken eggplant, kale and bullhorn capsicum sauce. Open late every night except Sunday, they start serving at 5p Monday through Thursday, and at 12p Friday through Sunday.
