Number One Wine Bar, Sydney

Casual dining at the Quay has always been something of a difficulty, with eateries falling either in the very upmarket or the overpriced tourist categories. Or it was, before the addition of Bilson's Number One Wine Bar. The man behind one of Sydney's top restaurants has drawn on his many years of experience to create what the area was missing: something elegant yet low-key, with prices to match. The menu is built around tasting plates: tapas-sized morsels of French-style fare such as pork rillettes, duck parfait and crispy fingers of fried goats' cheese. Perfect with one of the bar's many wines available by the glass.
