If you want to really get an idea of the city's performing arts scene, then a visit to the Q Theatre is what you ought to do. Opened in 2011, the Q Theatre is a community effort that has seen a splendid realization. Starting in the mid-to-late 1990s, when the city felt there to be a want of a first rate, performance space in the city, after the closure of the Watershed Theatre; the Q Theatre has certainly made its mark on the arts and culture scene here. On offer are two main performance spaces - the Loft and Rangatira - which can be hired for performances.
