Floating Mountain, Christchurch

Floating Mountain is the intriguing, English translation, of the Maori name given to Mount Grey (Maukatere), which "floats" in the ranges that border the Waipara hinterland; the fourth largest wine region in New Zealand.The vineyard's owner and winemaker, Mark Rattray, is well respected in winemaking circles and has been a consultant winemaker to several other Canterbury wine producers. Floating Mountain, originally named Mark Rattray Vineyards, specializes in quality, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, which are exported worldwide.
