Overview

Named Te Aro, this easy, flat, inner-city walk covers the area that was settled by Maori's several hundred years before the arrival of Europeans. Te Aro Pa (occupied by Te Atiawa) was situated in five hectares of land in what is now lower Taranaki and Manners Streets and Courtney Place. The trail begins at lower Cuba Street and loops through the inner city streets back to its start point. Easy access for wheelchairs and pushchairs, the walk takes in many of Wellington's historic buildings including churches.
