Zealandia: The Karori Sanctuary Experience is an ambitious 225 hectare (555.98 acres) project intended to restore and protect native flora and fauna within the city environment. A ground-breaking fence to deter predators has been especially designed and constructed and a weka breeding program is well established. Kiwis are spotted in the area, and visitors can also catch a glimpse of the famous tuataras that are native only to New Zealand. The secluded inner city valley incorporates educational facilities and a network of trails. A must visit when visiting New Zealand's capital city! Check website for more details.
