Keg Steakhouse and Bar (The), Calgary

Restaurants come and go, but the Keg chain has been around for more than a generation as a reliable place for a good steak, devoid of the stuffiness of more traditional steakhouses. Known for a casual atmosphere, table help who insist you know their names and big salad bars, this particular outlet holds true to form. It is set in what looks to passersby like a classic Western ranch house and carries that homey (though bustling) feel inside. Alberta prides itself on its beef, and that's the mainstay of the menu, with filet mignon, New York cuts and prime rib, all at moderate prices. There are two more Keg outlets in Calgary, plus two in Banff.
