Like many of Calgary's parks, Pearce Estate Wetlands is recreational, educational and environmental. The 21-hectare (52-acre) parkland was donated by William Pearce, who made the area his home and used it for agricultural purposes. He later donated the estate to the city of Calgary. This park has a balsam poplar forest and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife and birds. The park has interpretive trails and is also home to the Sam Livingstone Fish Hatchery Centre.
