This restaurant proudly goes by the name Cod of the King because salted cod imported from Portugal is the order of the day. There are some 18 cod-based dishes to choose from here, and although they are not cheap (up to BRL125), mains easily serve two people. There are also good meat, seafood and chicken dishes to choose from, but vegetarians may struggle to find anything beyond a simple salad or side dishes. The emphasis is on sticking to traditional dishes, and many of the dishes here have been enthusiastically consumed by Portuguese families for centuries. There's also a decent wine list, with an impressive range of Portuguese red and whites alongside international offerings. The desserts are tempting too. Tarts, cakes and Rocombole (a sort of Brazilian take on the Swiss Roll), come highly recommended. -Lucy Bryson
