Bar do Oswaldo, Rio de Janeiro

Rio is famous for its batidas (cocktails made with fruit, rum, and sometimes condensed milk), and nowhere will you find a better batida than at Bar do Oswaldo. The drinks have been a specialty of the house since it opened in 1946 and can be ordered as shots or one-liter bottles. The most popular are creamy confections made with condensed milk, rum and passion fruit, coconut or peanut; but there are more exotic flavors available as well, such as caju-the fruit of the cashew nut.
