Boca Chica, Rio de Janeiro

Boca Chica has long been a success in the upmarket Uruguayan beach resort of Punte del Este, and now the owners are hoping to repeat that same success in the equally upscale neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca, to the west of Central Rio. Located within the cool confines of the Shopping Downtown mall, Boca Chica offers a range of lighter lunch options, aimed at those with an eye on their figures rather than their wallets. Salads, grilled fish and chicken, mixed-grain risottos and other such guilt-free treats make up the bulk of the menu, while another star of the menu is a grilled beef tenderloin served with a sauce of red wine and cassis, accompanied by caramelized onions and potatoes. -Lucy Bryson
