Deposito Gourmet, Rio de Janeiro

The sophisticated breed of shopper that makes a beeline for Rio Design Barra needn't fill up on standard food court fare such as hot dogs and burgers while browsing the boutiques. At Deposito Gourmet, located right at the heart of the shopping center, they can dine on duck, lamb or steak while drinking fine wines imported from all over Europe. From the outside, Deposito Gourmet looks like a wine store or deli, but inside it is very much a restaurant, with an emphasis on simple, sophisticated dishes. The extensive wine list is impressive, though it doesn't fully represent Brazilian wines. -Lucy Bryson
