Host to some of the funkiest club nights in Rio, Gafieira Elite, at the heart of Centro, is perfect for those who want to strut their stuff on the dancefloor. Musical policies vary nightly, but there's a big emphasis on American funk (very different from Brazilian funk) , soul, gospel, hip-hop, jazz and old-school R&B. Head here on a Saturday and expect to hear the likes of Aretha Franklin, Micheal Jackson, Stevie Wonder and James Brown alongside Brazilian legends such as Tim Maia, Jorge Ben Jor, Milton Nascimento and Wilson Simonal.
