Gibeer, Rio de Janeiro

Owner Jeff Folly's travels abroad have heavily influenced the drinks menu at Gibeer, which features an extensive range of imported beers and ales. Recent additions to the drinks list include the German beer Oettinger, which weighs in at a head-spinning 8.9 percent alcohol, as well as the Belgian beers Gold Blonde and Rubi Red. The setting in leafy Jardim Botanico makes this a very pleasant spot for an afternoon drink, and the food menu offers some very appealing options too. Fried polenta with a gorgonzola sauce and onion rings with a spicy pepper sauce are good vegetarian-friendly options, while carnivores regularly request the meat croquettes.
