Mofo, Rio de Janeiro

The literal English translation may be mold' but there is nothing musty about this local favorite tucked away close to Flamengo Beach. Recently expanded to take over the next door premises too, the atmosphere has not been diluted one drop, with the huge black and white photos of historic Rio mixing perfectly with the never-ending jazz played overhead. The neighborhood's best draft beer and a caipirinha platter' laden with up to five different tropical fruit mixers make it a favorite with the after work crowd, but as the night gets later, the clientele gets more excitable too. Mofo is open everyday from 11:30 a.m. onwards.
