Moviola, Rio de Janeiro

The leafy neighborhood of Laranjeiras is fast becoming the hangout of choice for literary-minded locals, many of whom chose to meet up at Moviola - a combination bar, bookstore, bistro and cafe. Book launches and other highbrow events take place here, but the food, imported beers and pleasant atmosphere are enough to attract a crowd any day of the week. Foodwise, the sandwiches and bruschettas are good, with the provolone cheese bread a tasty base for fillings such as sun-dried tomato and pastrami. The list of imported drinks is impressive, so there is no reason not to check Moviola out! - Lucy Bryson
