Overview
In 1995, long paths for bicycles were built along Rio's seashore from Leme to Barra da Tijuca. On Sundays, the roads are closed for cars; and pedestrians, roller skaters and cyclists abound. On weekdays, many people exercise by the beach and you can find groups of Yoga or Tai-chi-chu-an on the sand. A walk by the shore is fun, especially during any one of Rio's many events that celebrate Yemanja, the goddess of water.
