Overview
Admirers of nature and adventure will enjoy climbing this 2,800 feet mountain from which one has an impressive view of the city and the beaches below. The mountain was named for its shape, resembling a gávea (the upper part of a ship). Visitors can either walk on the trails or choose a guided tour to reach the summit. There are some inscriptions on the rocks and a lot of controversy over whether or not they are from civilizations past.
